Nell Avera Vaughn

Savannah- Mrs. Nell Avera Vaughn, "Ma-Ma", 96, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Azalealand Nursing Home with her granddaughters by her side.
The Avera, Georgia native lived most of her life in Savannah. She was a homemaker and devoted wife to James Hoke Vaughn. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the Nondenominational Christian Church and loved fishing and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hoke in 1972, her daughter, Betty Faye Vaughn Crawford in 2001, and her sister, Eleanor Hilton "Owi" in 1997.
Survivors include her grandson, John Andrew Crawford, III of Brunswick; granddaughters, Brenda Crawford S. Fraser and Michelle Crawford Grovenstein, both of Savannah; great-grandchildren, Clint Stewart, Chamie Stewart Jones, Chaz Fraser, Daniel Grovenstein, Jr., Deven Grovenstein, all of Savannah.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. at the Islands Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors with Charles Vaughn officiating. Pallbearers will be: Kenny Fraser, Chaz Fraser, Dan Grovenstein, Daniel Grovenstein, Jr., Jimmie Hilton and Tom Shadle.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Aunt Nell's Grandchildren and GreatGrandchildren, I am sorry to hear of your loss. My sisters and I fondly remember, as little girls, the excitement of visits from 'Aunt Nell and Aunt Eleanor' in the 60s and 70s. Rarely did we see one without the other so I will always remember them as 'Aunt Eleanor and Aunt Nell' together. We loved them both very much !! You are in my prayers....
